Dear Sisters
Isnít this fall weather just the best? And the colors are changing as well. Our next meeting is a perfect tie in with the state presidentís theme of literacy. Check the program spotlight! October 8 will be our next meeting, 4:30 for some socializing, meeting at 5:00, dinner (chili, cornbread, salad & dessert) at 5:30 with program to follow.
Hereís whatís happening:
1. Bring $ for the raffle basket (it promises to be a good one), birthday quarters, and school supplies to help out area teachers in January.
2. Bring ideas about projects we could add to what we already do around the literacy theme.
3. Maria Diaz and I will report from Fall Board in Yakima.
4. It has been suggested that we change our casino $ split from 75% scholarship to 50% in order to build our organization treasury. The scholarship fund is quite healthy. Be prepared to discuss the idea.
5. We need more people to sign up to help with dinners so sign-up sheet will be circulated again. You donít necessarily have to cook, much can be purchased, but we need help preparing each meeting night and cleaning up after.
6. It would really help the treasurer if you have correct change or a checkÖmakes it quicker & more efficient!

Looking forward to seeing you all!
Rosa Eilert, President

Robert Sez: "The budget can be amended by the members even after it has been adopted."

Help Us Grow!
This phrase ties our chapter mission into the theme of Brett Reasorís excellent talk last month about the apple industry. I have talked about introducing new friends to Zeta Chapter by inviting them to our meeting as guests which means they can participate in the activities without paying for their meal. When a call comes to remind you of our meeting, Tues., October 8 at 4:30, it is a good time to respond if a guest will be attending so the food committee can plan. Thanks!

Rosa will be attending our state fall board meeting as President and Area 8 Liaison on the 28th so will bring back the updated information for the state literacy project. Hear how we might weave the goals into our Ruth Bumps Literacy Council jar and Birthday money. Stay tuned.

Anyone that might know of health concerns of a Zeta member, please contact Cathy Reasor as we want to keep in touch during recovery/treatment.

See you on the 8th.

I WONDER ......... when will the newly remodeled library be ready for visitors? When did the librarians and patrons decide that we needed an updated building, when were the books moved to their temporary home in the old Sea First building downtown and when were the plans created and adopted?

Jessica Adams, circulation supervisor of North Central Washington Regional Library System will be at our guest speaker at the October 8 meeting to answer all of these questions and more. She will share the design of the new library, the whys, requirements and limitations they considered and the services that the library now and in the future provides and will even let us know how to get our very own library card!

As part of this yearís state president theme, "Putting a Book in Every Childs ( and/or adults) Hands", please bring an adult book to exchange with one of our DKG members at this meeting. Put your book at your place at a table and check out the other tablesí books as the evening goes along. Be ready to exchange for the one you want after the raffle drawing and enjoy your 'new' book the rest of the month.

We will be making bookmarks to give to Jessica to take back to the 'new' library, so brush up on your Origami folding skills.
